Secrets of the Dead: The Man Who Saved the World.

Tells the story of Vasili Arkhipov, who was aboard Soviet submarine B-59 in October of 1962. B-59 was surrounded by twelve U.S. destroyers. In the midst of being pelted by depth chargers, the captain of B-59, Vitali Grigorievitch Savitsky, panicked and ordered the launch of nuclear torpedoes. Watch this documentary to find out how Arkhipov was instrumental in preventing this disaster.
